Overall, I had a lot of fun playing this and am definitely hyped for a potential third entry. Origin is not required to run the game as of 2022 (the game does have a CD key but it's not required to play on Steam). (I originally complained about the port not having the DLC weapons and dresses, but you can access them by editing the game's ini files check the Steam guides for more info.) Keep in mind that this game is really old so it won't run as smoothly as a modern game the camera and interface can be a bit janky at times, but nothing game breaking IMO. My only really criticisms are the lack of boss fights in game and that this port doesn't include the complete edition, which has American McGee's Alice. It's also a game you definitely get more skilled at the more you play, and Alice is an awesome lead, being sympathetic and tragic while also being strong, well-spoken, and fashionable. The game does a great job of being challenging without being unfair or frustrating if you make a mistake while platforming, just try again, and if you lose a fight, you can start at the beginning. While the graphics are a little dated, the art and character designs are incredible, blurring the line between the gorgeous and grotesque.
This game makes me so nostalgic for the classic platforming games I played as a kid, but with a mature story that I can enjoy as a grownup. I've never played this game before but after seeing how important it is to a lot of people I thought I should try it out.
